History

There is a famous legend or folklore in Mandalika, namely the legend of Princess Mandalika, which is the origin of the area's name.

She was a beautiful princess from the prominent Sasak tribe, and her charm mesmerized all men, even beyond Lombok.

Then, one day, overwhelmed by numerous suitors, Princess Mandalika decided to find solace through meditation.

The following day, she gathered all the men who admired her on Bukit Seger.

Instead of choosing one proposal, the beautiful princess threw herself into the waves of Seger Beach and disappeared without a trace.

Interestingly, after her disappearance, Seger Beach was filled with colorful sea worms.

The local people believed that these sea worms were another form of Princess Mandalika.
